Mr Five Star and World Travel and Dinning Reviews & Resources
L'Auberge Chez François, Great Falls VA (Washington DC)Featured

This is the real deal. If you want authentic Alsatian cuisine L' Auberge Chez Francois is the place to go in the Washington DC area. Located about 45 minutes from the our nation's capital in Great Falls, VA, you will find the drive well worth it. My daughter's engagement party was held here. Both the restaurant experience and the celebration was a night to remember.

L'Auberge Chez François offers a 6-course prix fixe dinner menu for the price of the entrée, ranging in price from $59.00 to $72.00. Featuring traditional French Alsatian favorites, guests are served in a warm, congenial and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of the little family inns - or "auberge" - that dot the Alsatian countryside. The menu changes with the seasons, using the best ingredients available.

Travelers in the Alsatian countryside, whose interest is in gastronomy as well as beautiful scenery soon discover the delights awaiting them in the smaller dining rooms that dot the roadsides. c1small.jpgThese little restaurants, "auberge" to use the French name, are usually run by the chef-owner and members of his family. Here the emphasis is on food -- the owner either supervises the preparation of every dish, or prepares it himself.

The guest is served as if he is a neighbor who has come to dine with the family. The visitor is treated as a friend, not as a casual passer-by, and he usually leaves the auberge replete with fine food and glowing spirits. L'Auberge Chez François opened 50 years ago in downtown Washington to bring this casually elegant atmosphere to the nation's capital and now at our present location at 332 Springvale Road, in Great Falls, Virginia. It is my sincere hope that you will find L'Auberge Chez François such an experience.

Zagat's Reviews "Special occasions" are made “memorable” at this "universally beloved" "rustic" Alsatian in a "magical" country setting in Great Falls that takes you to "pastoral" France; the "excellent" French fare is served by a staff that makes you "feel loved and taken care of" whether you’re enjoying the "fireplace warmth" in winter or the garden "on a lovely summer night", so overall many find it a "top value." - 2008
