This hotel was purchased by the same people who own the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs last year 2005. You can be sure in a few years this property is going to be the "New Jewel" of Aspen. Personally I think the hotel is in great shape, but no, not good enough for the Broadmoor folks. They are about to do another major restoration to this historic building. I did say restoration, because they just don't renovate they "restore". If they do anything like they did at the Broadmoor recently the "Jerome" is going to be another reason to visit Aspen.
I have been staying at the Jerome since 1954 and in the late 60's assisted in building a radio station in the lower lobby of the hotel. I have seen many changes in this structure over the years, but it is my opinion "the best is yet to come". As soon as I know when the restoration will start you will read about it here. In the meantime I am sure you will enjoy you stay as I have.
