The Ritz Carlton architecture was inspired by the grand lodges of Yellowstone and Yosemite National parks. The structure's construction has made liberal use of stone, timbers and large logs every where you look. This is truly another very well done resort by the Ritz Carlton folks. This hotel has a relatively small number of rooms and suites although it looks much larger. 237 rooms including 29 suites.

There are plenty of things to do including tennis, skiing in the winter, Golf (15 minutes) close by, 21,00 square foot Spa and Fitness center, large heated pool, Ski Nanny's, Baby sitting, the Ritz Kids activity programs, Ski Valet, Ice Skating, Snowshoeing, Ice fishing, Hot air ballooning, Dog Sledding, Horseback ridding, Fly fishing, Mountain biking, Kayaking and hiking. 

The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch is a typical Ritz with all the "my pleasures" from everyone. It has been my experience, here, that the service was not up to what we have all become accustomed to, and expect from the Ritz people. Since opening in November 2002 it has, fortunately, steadily improved. It is my opinion they still have some work to do mainly the service in the restaurants. During the past two winter season we waited on numerous occasions much to long for food to be delivered to our table. We found the food service much more prompt at the Park Hyatt and the Sonnenalp. Of the three resort hotels we rated in the Vail area we believe the food to be the best at the Sonnenalp. Don't get me wrong here, the food is excellent but the other properties seem to be just a notch above.

Regardless of the service issue, I strongly recommend the Ritz Carlton at Bachelor Gulch for a romantic getaway or a family vacation.  Do check out their web site for full details on the property. The link to the web site is below.
