Take Highway 1 up the Pacific Coast from San Francisco about 6 hours, this is a drive you will never forget, or 4 hours up the 101.
You must book the “Obsidian” or the “Emerald”. The Obsidian boasts a stunning whitewater ocean view that can be enjoyed from the deck or through its double picture windows. It is an oversized room featuring a king-size feather bed, fireplace, and soaking tub and shower for two (with robes). In room amenities include - Complimentary sherry, TV, VCR, CD players, robes and feather beds. Full country breakfast
Agate Cove Inn is perched on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean. Farmhouse and cottages set on 2 acres of beautiful coastal gardens. you won't find a better ocean view than right here. You can even watch whales spouting from the breakfast room during the migration.
The Mendocino Coast is a beautiful place, with headlands and sea stacks everywhere. Mendocino is surrounded by 5 state parks and the Jackson State Forest, providing many opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, 4-wheel driving, and kayaking.
 There are dozens of wineries in Mendocino County, with many of them clustered along Highway 128, the main route to Mendocino from the San Francisco Bay Area. The village of Mendocino is designated as a historical district, and it has managed to retain much of the charm of a bygone era. Mendocino is home to a thriving community of artists, anchored by the world-famous Mendocino Art Center. There are many galleries and shops in the village, as well as quite a few excellent restaurants. Agate Cove Inn provides an excellent base from which to explore the area, but you can also just grab an Adirondack chair on our lawn and marvel at the beauty of the ocean!
