Our associate’s unanimously agree Del Fresco by a nose edges ahead of the herd. What a difficult decision! After all look where we had to go, several times to come up with this proclamation. We visited Ruth’s Chris, Smith & Wollensky, Bern’s Steak House, Tampa, Morton’s Steak Houses, Peter Luger’s NY, Elway’s Denver, Steak House 10 Denver, Shula’s Miami, and Jackson’s Fort Lauderdale only to mention a few. First let me say, if you want a really great steak I promise you will get one at any of the above restaurants all across America. Here is an example, Tommy, Moxcey the GM at Elway’s in Denver has his eye on everyone very second that the restaurant is open, he will water tables, clear tables, greet everyone like you are a rock star and directs his staff like a Marine First Sergeant. Tom knows how to run a first class operation. The Kallas Greek brothers at Steakhouse 10 Denver really treat you like family on your first visit, here the food is excellent and the price is right.

So why did we choose Del Fresco to be # 1 again this year, mainly because of the package. The ambiance in each location is superb, the consistency of service and food preparation was found to be a cut above the rest, not much but just enough to keep them in the # 1 position. Peter Luger Steak House has been serving the finest USDA Prime steaks since 1887. The selection process is crucial and therefore is done only by members of the family who visit the wholesale markets on a daily basis. It begins with fresh sides of beef that usually come from the Midwest. The section of beef used is called the short loin. Only those cattle graded PRIME by the United States Agriculture Department are even considered. It is then important to examine the color, fat conformation and bones. The color must be pink with an even conformation of fat dispersed throughout. This is referred to as marbling. If selected, the loin is brought back to the premises of the restaurant where the dry aging process begins. The loins of beef sit in a temperature controlled cooler where air circulates around them. After the meat is properly aged, it is butchered and brought up to the kitchen for broiling.   http://www.peterluger.com/
